Hello, my crafty friends!

The BetterPress plates from Spellbinders deliver excellent results when used with the Glimmer Hot Foil system. That's why I love using them for this purpose, and this post is dedicated to it. I used the same BetterPress plate from the new Yana Smakula collection: the Festive Poinsettias BetterPress Plate from the Amaryllis Christmas Collection. I was surprised by this release, as these products are related to Christmas, but they can be used in various ways for other themes.

To work with the Festive Poinsettias BetterPress Plate by Yana Smakula, I employed the Glimmer Hot Foil system to apply different colors of foil. Subsequently, I used Distress inks to color the images with the specific coordinating stencil. This stencil will help you color your cards more quickly, using an applicator to make the process easier.

Para trabajar con la placa BetterPress Festive Poinsettias de Yana Smakula, he empleado el sistema Glimmer Hot Foil para aplicar foil de diferentes colores. Posteriormente, utilicé las tintas Distress para colorear las imágenes con la máscara coordinada específica. Esta máscara te ayudará a colorear tus tarjetas más rápidamente, utilizando un aplicador para facilitar el proceso.

In previous posts, I have explained several times how to use foil with Glimmer plates (watch the reel HERE), and the same method applies to BetterPress plates. However, since these plates press a larger area of foil, it is recommended to reheat the plate twice before passing it through the die-cutting machine to achieve better results when applying the foil onto the cardstock.

For this card, I chose a black background, so I used black foil and then applied bright colors of ink to the poinsettias to make them stand out against the dark background.

For this card, I used a metallic foil: my favorite, called Aura, which is gold with color reflections. To color the flowers, I chose medium and light shades of pink and green.

Para esta tarjeta, se utilizó un foil metálico: mi favorito, llamado Aura, que es dorado con reflejos de colores. Para colorear las flores, elegí tonos medios y claros en rosas y verdes.

In this case, I wanted to design a completely different card, in a single color. Therefore, I opted for a turquoise cardstock and applied white foil to it. For the colors, I selected turquoise and pale green shades to subtly highlight the images, thus choosing a tone-on-tone effect.

En este caso, quería diseñar una tarjeta completamente diferente, de un solo color. Por lo tanto, opté por una cartulina turquesa a la que le apliqué foil blanco. Para los colores, seleccioné tonos turquesas y verdes pálidos para resaltar un poco las imágenes, eligiendo así un efecto tono sobre tono.

For the sentiments, I used the new set from the same Spellbinders collection: Home for Christmas Sentiments Betterpress Plates by Yana Smakula. I also used different foils (metallic red and white on black cardstock) for the sentiments.

Para las frases, utilicé el nuevo set de la misma colección de Spellbinders: Home for Christmas Sentiments Betterpress Plates de Yana Smakula. También empleé diferentes foils (rojo metálico y blanco sobre cartulina negra) para estas frases.



I hope you like these cards as much as I do, as I believe this collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders is one of the best she has released, and it can be used not just for Christmas but for other themes as well. Additionally, it’s one of those collections that you never tire of creating with, and I’m sure I will use it again for future Christmases because it lets your imagination soar... I have another idea right now! So I’ll leave you to keep creating.
