Word Dies with the Glimmer | Troqueles de Frases con la Glimmer

In cardmaking, we have products that we use daily, such as word dies. However, some card companies have launched new tools and innovative products to make handmade cards more professional. A prime example of such a product is the Glimmer Hot Foil System from Spellbinders, which provides the necessary heat to heat foil sheets onto the cardstock with a design, a special foil plate, which is then passed through a manual die cutter and presses the whole assembly together to transfer the design. This system from Spellbinders is one of the best in the creative cardmaking market, but it has competitors for the same foil application system, such as the Gemini FoilPress from Crafter's Companion. Nevertheless, we recommend the one from Spellbinders because it is the one we use.

En tarjetería tenemos productos que utilizamos en el día a día, como son los troqueles de palabras. Sin embargo, algunas de las compañías de productos para tarjetas han lanzado nuevas herramientas y productos innovadores para poder realizar tarjetas hechas a mano con mayor profesionalidad. Un ejemplo claro de estos productos es la Glimmer Hot Foil System de Spellbinders que proporciona el calor necesario a las hojas de calor sobre la cartulina con un diseño, una placa especial para foil, que pasándola por una troqueladora manual presiona todo el conjunto para transferir el diseño. Este sistema de Spellbinders es uno de los mejores en el mercado de la tarjetería creativa pero tiene sus competidores para el mismo sistema de aplicación de foil, como la Gemini FoilPress de Crafter's Companion. No obstante, nosotros recomendamos la de Spellbinders porque es la que utilizamos.

While this foil hot-pressing system is used with special solid foil plates, it can also be used with dies. Dies have a fine embossed edge that is intended for die-cutting. When using the dies with the Glimmer, it is the thin edges to which the foil would be added as this is what sticks out.

Si bien este sistema de presión de foil se utiliza con placas especiales sólidas, también se puede utilizar con los troqueles. Los troqueles tienen un borde fino en relieve cuyo objetivo es cortar o troquelar. Al utilizar los troqueles con la Glimmer, son los bordes finos a los que se les añadería el foil ya que es lo que sobresale. 

Christmas phrase dies have been used as the main focus for this card. The dies selected are from the Make it Merry Sentiments Etched Dies set by Spellbinders. As already mentioned, these dies have not been used as such, but have been used as plates for the Glimmer Hot Foil using different colored cardstock and with Aura foil which is a bronze to gold color (very rare but beautiful).

Se ha utilizado los troqueles de frases navideñas como foco principal para esta tarjeta. Los troqueles seleccionados son del set Make it Merry Sentiments Etched Dies de Spellbinders. Como ya se ha mencionado, estos troqueles no se han utilizado como tal, sino que se han sido utilizados como placas para la Glimmer Hot Foil utilizando diferentes cartulinas de colores y con el foil Aura que es un color entre bronce y dorado (muy raro pero precioso).

For the background, we used the Spellbinders' In The Pines Embossing Folder so it would not look too bland, but not too flashy either, to give prominence to the phrases we previously used with the glimmer. We mounted this card on a 4.25" by 5.5" base, added the white embossing card with the folder, glued the phrases in the center and in a line, and finally added some clay decorations and sequins.

Para el fondo, se utilizó la Carpeta de Embossing In The Pines de Spellbinders para que no quede tan sosa, pero algo tampoco no muy llamativo para dar protagonismo a las frases que previamente utilizamos con la glimmer. Montamos esta tarjeta en una base de 4,25 por 5,5 pulgadas, añadiendo la cartulina blanca embosada con la carpeta, pegamos las frases en el centro y en línea y, finalmente añadimos algunas decoraciones de arcilla y lentejuelas. 

The Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System is a machine that allows you to give your handmade cards a more professional and sophisticated touch. Once you have spent some time using it and know how to use it, creativity and originality are next, trying to use it with other products you already have. Moreover, there are several systems like this on the market from other brands, but we recommend this brand, Spellbinders because it is the one we use. We also recommend that you always read the electrical recommendations before purchasing, as these types of mains-operated machines cannot be used in different continents due to voltage differences.

La Glimmer Hot Foil System de Spellbinders es una máquina que permite dar un brillo a tus tarjetas hechas a mano con un toque más profesional y sofisticado. Una vez que le dedicas un tiempo a su uso y ya sepas cómo se utiliza, la creatividad y la originalidad ya es lo siguiente, intentando utilizarla con otros productos que ya tienes. Como hemos comentado anteriormente, hay varios sistemas como este en el mercado de otras marcas, pero nosotros recomendamos esta marca, Spellbinders, porque es la que utilizamos. Asimismo, recomendamos leer siempre las recomendaciones eléctricas antes de adquirirlas, ya que este tipo de máquinas que se utilizan con red eléctrica no pueden ser utilizados en los diferentes continentes por las diferencias de voltaje.
