Birthday Card with the Glimmer Hot Foil | Tarjeta de Cumpleaños con la Glimmer

Hello, my crafty friends,

Throughout this year 2023, the Glimmer Hot Foil System machine from Spellbinders has been considered one of the most popular machines in cardmaking. This machine gives you a shiny image, sentiment, or background that you get through foiling, with a little bit of dimension. I've created a birthday card using the Glimmer Hot Foil machine from Spellbinders. I am in love with it although I'm still learning a lot of things about it. A lo largo de este año 2023, la máquina Glimmer Hot Foil System de Spellbinders ha sido considerada una de las máquinas más populares en tarjetería creativa. Esta máquina te da una imagen, frase o fondo brillante, que se obtiene a través del foil, y un poco de relieve. He creado una tarjeta de cumpleaños utilizando la máquina Glimmer Hot Foil de Spellbinders que me encanta aunque todavía estoy aprendiendo muchas cosas sobre ella. To create this card, I used the Glimmer Gift Border Hot Foil Plate that is available in the UK Spellbinders store. The Glimmer Hot Foil machine is needed to use with hot foil plates with a piece of hot foil and the result is very beautiful and bright. Also, you need a die-cutting machine, such as the Spellbinders Platinum 6 or the Sizzix Big Shot machine (I don't know if other die-cutting machines would work with this machine, so it is convenient to get some info before purchasing).

Para crear esta tarjeta, utilicé una de las placas especiales para utilizar con la máquina Glimmer Hot Foil system y que está disponible en la tienda de Spellbinders en Reino Unido - Glimmer Gift Border Hot Foil. Estas placas especiales son utilizadas con un trozo de foil y el resultado es muy bonito. También, es necesario la utilización de una máquina troqueladora como, por ejemplo, la Spellbinders Platinum 6 o la Big Shot de Sizzix (desconozco si otras troqueladoras funcionan con esta máquina por lo que sería conveniente informarse antes de adquirirla).

First of all, I switched on the Glimmer Hot Foil System machine and, when the 'Ready' button stopped flashing, it was ready to use. Meanwhile, I could prepare the hot foil plate and the paper. I used Neenah Solar White 80lb that I temporarily taped with the hot foil plate (the pretty side of the hot foil plate touches the colorful side of the foil piece). I used rainbow foil for this card. Then, I added this 'sandwich' upside down on top of the machine, pressing the 'Timer' button. When this button stopped flashing, I took the upper part of the system which is removable, and passed it through the die-cutting machine. This makes the foil pressed and impressed on the piece of paper, and the result is very pretty.

Primero, encendí la máquina de la Glimmer Hot Foil System y cuando el botón "Ready" ("Preparado") dejó de parpadear, entonces ya se encontraba listo para utilizar. Mientras tanto, se puede preparar la placa y el papel. Utilicé cartulina blanca lisa de 80 libras de gramaje (unos 290 gramos aproximadamente), y que pegué con cinta temporal con la placa (la parte bonita de la placa debe tocas la parte bonita y colorida del foil). En este caso, he utilizado un foil multicolor, con colores del arcoiris. Later, I trimmed the sides of this panel to make it a little bit smaller than a 4.25 by 5.5-inch notecard. Being creative is the most important thing in the process of making cards. So, this card was embellished with some die-cutting pieces from the Decorative Die Set from Scrapbook.com. This die set is a must-have in the stash of a cardmaker since you can use it for many occasions - holiday cards, or birthday cards. I die-cut various pieces of the smallest bow from this set and added them to some of the gifts of the card randomly. Then, I added one tiny gold pearl to the center of the bows.

Más tarde, recorté los laterales de la tarjeta para hacerla un poco más pequeña que una tarjeta de 4.25 por 5.5 pulgadas. Ser creativa es la cosa más importante en el proceso de crear tarjetas. Troquelé varias piezas del lazo más pequeño del set y los añadí en los regalos con foil. Más tarde, en el centro de cada uno de los lazos añadí una perla muy pequeña dorada.

Finally, I added the hot foil word 'Celebrate' from Altenew Sweet Sentiment that I had hot foiled previously. I usually create some sentiments that I keep in a photo album, so, when I need one phrase or word, I just reach out and pick the best that I need. This useful idea is from the one and only Jennifer McGuire, one of the most talented and creative crafters in this industry.

Para terminar esta tarjeta, añadí la palabra "Celebrate" ("Celebra") del set de Altenew - Sweet Sentiment, que ya había hecho previamente. Suelo tener frases y palabras preparadas con antelación para ahorrar tiempo, así que utilicé esta palabra que ya había hecho con la misma máquina - Glimmer Hot Foil System machine. Estas frases las guardo en un álbum de fotos con páginas autoadhesivas para poder verlas a primera vista y decidir cual se ajustaría mejor a la tarjeta. Esta idea tan útil es de Jennifer McGuire, una de las creadoras de tarjetas más reconocidas en esta industria.
